The Best Lymphatic Drainage Message in SoCal: MACSL

MACSL is my favorite no-frills lymphatic massage in Southern California. I’ve been going since 2023, and it has become my go-to for just about everything: sports injuries, stress-related flare-ups, and the physical toll that hormonal stress can take on the body.

What Is MACSL?

MACSL (Mizokami Advanced Circulatory Sports Lymphatic) is a massage technique created by Sylvia Mizokami, built on her belief that the body knows how to heal itself when it is given the right support. It draws on deep tissue, sports massage, and lymphatic drainage, all centered on one goal: getting your lymphatic system moving. Sylvia describes the lymph nodes as the body’s purification centers, and her method works to break up stagnation so fluid and debris can flow out through the body’s natural channels of elimination. People come to MACSL for better circulation, less inflammation, improved range of motion, and stronger immunity. It is also used to support recovery from surgery and injury, to ease the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, and to help with skin concerns like acne and eczema. Every session uses organic, cold-pressed sesame oil, chosen for its anti-inflammatory properties and how deeply it absorbs. Beyond the signature treatment, the menu includes pre- and post-operation sessions, sinus and pregnancy treatments, MACSL paired with reflexology, and facials with Botnia products.

How MACSL Helped My Plantar Fasciitis

The best example I have is from finals season. I was so stressed and walking so much that I ended up triggering plantar fasciitis, a sharp, stabbing pain in the bottom of my foot that nothing seemed to ease. I booked a few MACSL sessions to see if I could bring the inflammation down, and the difference was immediate. The pain eased noticeably, and I left every session feeling lighter and calmer than when I walked in. It took a few months for the pain to fully go away, but I believe MACSL played a big part in my recovery. If you’re dealing with any kind of inflammation, especially the stress-related kind, this is the treatment I recommend first.

The Towel Reading

This is my favorite part. During the treatment you lie on a towel that catches any residue or discoloration released through the skin, and afterward your therapist reads the marks it leaves as a map of where your body is holding inflammation, toxins or stress. The therapists are incredibly knowledgeable and walk you through what your towel shows after every session. It’s become my favorite way to check in with my body.

Tips for Your First Visit

San Clemente or Brentwood?

MACSL has two locations, one in San Clemente and one in Brentwood. I’ve been to both, but San Clemente is my pick: parking is much easier and the pricing is a little lower.
